Lady Bulldogs fall to district foe Pampa

October 17, 2012

The Borger Lady Bulldogs hosted the Pampa Lady Harvesters on Tuesday night with revenge on their minds. The previous district matchup between these two teams went to five sets with the Lady Dogs falling short. It was a hard-fought battle, but the Lady Harvesters pulled out the win in four sets, 25-17, 25-19, 18-25, 25-23. The ladies fall to 2-4 in district play with two games to go.

Debra Ann Hefner

Debra Ann Hefner, 57, of Fritch, passed away, Saturday, October 13, 2012.
Debra Ann (Marquez) Hefner was born Saturday, November 20, 1954 in Oakland, CA to Joe and Mary (Marquez) Martinez Sr. She married John Hefner on April 12, 1989 in Las Vegas, NV. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Hefner is preceded in death by her grandmother, Clara Marquez.

Early voting starts October 22

Early voting for the upcoming November general election will start next Monday.
Voting will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Oct. 22, 2012, through Nov. 2, 2012. Registered voters can cast their ballots at the following locations:
•Hutchinson County Courthouse, 500 Main, Stinnett
•Hutchinson County Annex, 1400 Veta Street, Room 111, Borger
•Fritch Library Community Room, 205 North Cornell, Fritch

BHS Golf: Dumas Invitational Results

The Borger Bulldogs traveled to Dumas this week. Despite the brutal weather, we managed to come out with a 5th place team finish with a 327-336-663.
Dylan Coffer finished 5th overall with a 146, four shots out of first. Dylan has placed in the top five in every tournament this fall.
Coach Grange says, “The boys played well despite the adverse weather conditions, they kept their head up and finished strong.”

Fritch woman dies in weekend wreck

A serious wreck occurred on Highway 136 Saturday, leaving a Fritch woman dead and a Stinnett man seriously injured.
According to DPS Trooper Gabriel Medrano, at 2:10 a.m. on Saturday morning, the driver of a Chevy pickup, Noah H. Moore, 21, of Stinnett, was traveling eastbound on Highway 136.
The driver of a Chevy Silverado, Debra Marquez Hefner of Fritch, was traveling westbound on Highway 136.

Nettie Geneva Howard

Nettie Geneva Howard, 83, of Borger went to be with our Lord and Savior on October 14, 2012. She was born November 6, 1928 in Checotah, Oklahoma to James Oliver and Susie Plemons Chronister. She graduated from Checotah High School and then attended cosmetology school in Muskogee, Oklahoma where she later became a beauty instructor for 3 years.

Edwina Antonia Martinez

Edwina Antonia Martinez, 79, died Saturday in Borger. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Johns Catholic Church, with Father Richard Zanetti officiating. Rosary will be Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. at St. Johns. Arrangements are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Rooftop burglars indicted

October 15, 2012

On Thursday October 4th, 2012 a Hutchinson County Grand Jury indicted Arnold Ralph Beagle, Jr. (aka, A.J. Beagle), 51 years of age, of Borger, and Christopher Kent Landers, 32 years of age, of Borger, on a charge of Burglary of a Building.
Felony Arrest Warrants were issued for both men on Wednesday October 10th, 2012.
The Grand Jury Indictments stemmed from the rooftop Burglary of the China Dynasty Restaurant located at 1030 Megert Circle during the month of April 2012.
