The Borger Bulldogs opened district play by welcoming the Dalhart Golden Wolves to Bulldog Stadium on Friday night. Borger has won the contest the last three years. On Friday night, they would fall short in a three point heartbreaker of a loss.

BCC hosting weekend Halloween party

The Borger Country Club is inviting area residents to its membership drive Halloween Party this Saturday.
Borger Country Club General Manager Becky Prather and the board of directors are hosting a “Phantom of the Opera” themed party in the BCC Ballroom from 7 p.m to midnight.
There will be a live DJ from Amarillo, appetizers, and a dance. During the event the BCC will offer half off membership fees for the first year. The entrance fee is $20 a couple. It is not required to dress in costume.

The Sanford-Fritch High School Varsity Eagles recently received news that they have been recognized as the Dave Campbell's Texas Football Army Strong 2A Team of the Week for the state after beating Canadian 21-20.

Jerry Ray Pool, 78, died Tuesday, October 16, 2012 in Amarillo.
Memorial Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Jennifer Santer, Pastor, and Rev. Georgia King , BSA Chaplain officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Darvil Bruce Holland

Darvil Bruce Holland, always known as Bruce, died in Oklahoma City, OK on October 13, 2012. He was born in Pontotoc County on October 6, 1934. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Artie Holland, brother, Ted Holland and son, Grant Holland. He is survived by his wife Dr. Gerry Palmer Holland of Nichols Hills, OK, his sister Noma (Tom) Sullivan of Edmond, OK, brother, William R. Holland (Donna) of Jupiter, Florida, sons, Scot (Diane), Ben and Colby Holland and his daughter, Tanya (Brian) Garrison. His grandchildren are Scotty, Brett and Eric Holland and Luke and Emily Garrison.

County 4-H member honored at Gold Star Banquet

AMARILLO - Twenty-seven outstanding 4-H members from the Panhandle area were honored at the 55th annual Gold Star Banquet for District l on Oct. 15 at the Alumni Banquet Facility of West Texas A&M University in Canyon.
     To qualify for the Gold Star Award, the highest 4-H honor at the county level, a 4-H’er must be a least l5 years old, have completed three years of club work, be an active member and complete a record book, said Brandon Dukes, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service 4-H and youth development specialist. 4-H is the youth program of AgriLife Extension.

BHS cheerleaders encouraging public to “pink out” Bulldog Stadium Friday evening

The BHS Varsity Cheerleaders would like to encourage the community to come out to support Borger Bulldog Football as it plays Dalhart here this Friday. It is their Pink Out game! Wear pink and come support the American Cancer Society and the fight against breast cancer. Go Dogs!!

Council approves advance agreement for Roosevelt project

An advance agreement between the City of Borger and the Texas Department of Transportation for improvements to Roosevelt Street has been approved.
The Borger City Council took action on Tuesday on a resolution approving a local project advance funding agreement with TxDOT for the rehabilitation of Roosevelt Street from State Highway 136 to State Highway 207.
