On September 5, 2011, at the age of 80, Jacquelyne Cromwell was welcomed by the Lord and reunited with the love of her life, Stan Cromwell. She was preceded in death by Stan, her husband of 53 years in 2002; her parents, Eva and E.W. “Jack” Martin; and her sister Patricia Sue Sahli.
On Friday evening, the Borger Bulldogs benefited from their strong running game and physical defense to come away with a 27-23 over the Bushland Falcons at Bulldog Stadium.
After giving up 571 yards to Caprock last Thursday, the Bulldog defense looked like a completely different unit on Friday night limiting the Falcons’ offense to 246 yards of total offense.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Bulldogs did not have to worry about moving the ball in the air due to racking up 342 yards on the ground, led senior Adam Bumpus rushing for 228 yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries.
WHITE DEER-It only took 12 seconds for the West Texas Comanches to let White Deer know they were not going to be very gracious visitors Friday night. Senior Colin Coleman took the opening kick off 80 yards for a touchdown, as WT High played their first road game of the season. Alex Ramirez added the PAT and WT was up 7-0 with most of the first quarter left.
STRATFORD-On Friday evening, ehe Sanford-Fritch Eagles fought hard against the Straford Elks but couldn’t prevail 34-18. The absence of key players due to injuries, and multiply penalties would be key reasons for the loss.
In the first quarter, the Elks scored quick on a run by senior RB Alex Chavoya. No other points were scored in that quarter.
Second quarter had Sanford-Fritch answering with many exchanges by both Bryans (Chris & Terry) before Chris ran a short yardage touchdown. The extra point didn’t count.

Late Thursday night between the hours of 9:45 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on September 8, 2011, A female victim was walking on Union Street heading towards Keeler Heights addition. The female victim was at the bottom of the hill on Union Street, when a white male, wearing a mask, approached her and assaulted her from behind.

On Friday night, the Borger Bulldogs hope to get their first win of the season when they take on the Bushland Falcons at 7:30 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium.
After falling 63-49 to Amarillo Caprock last Thursday, the Bulldogs find themselves experiencing some deja vu of last season when they held a 0-2 record going into the Bushland game.
In the first two weeks of the season, the West Texas High Comanches have been one of the most dominant teams in the Texas Panhandle by outscoring their opponents 83-6.
In the win over Shamrock last Friday, the Comanches’ defense completely shut down the Irish by giving up only had two yards of total offense in the game.
West Texas High Head Coach Keith Hardin has been pleased with the defense, saying, “So far our play on that side of the ball has been outstanding. Our defense line has been dominant and that has allowed our linebackers to make plays.”
On Friday evening, the Sanford-Fritch Eagles travel north to take on the Stratford Elks looking for their first win of the 2011 season.
For the second year in a row, the Eagles find themselves in the middle of one of the toughest non-district schedules in the Texas Panhandle.
Last week in Sunray, the Eagles struggled in the second half in their 47-24 loss to the Bobcats.
Funeral for Helen Clack, 89, Lawton, will be at 1:30 pm Friday, September 9, at Sterling United Methodist Church, Sterling, Oklahoma, with Rev. Michael J. Dye officiating.
Family will greet friends on Thursday between 6:00 and 8:00 pm at the Funeral Home.
Mrs. Clack died Tuesday in a Lawton retirement center.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Lawton under the direction of Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Lawton.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Borger United Wesley Methodist Church, Borger, TX on Friday, October 21, 2011, at 2:00 pm.
The honorary chairman for this year’s HOPE event truly believes anything is possible when one has hope and God on their side.
Shana K. Richardson, who is holding the title this year, said that after two years of not feeling well and knowing something wasn’t right, she finally went to the doctor with her symptoms.
“I went for a colonoscopy on Dec. 27, 2006. That was when I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Colon/Rectal Cancer,” she said. “I had numerous tests run and they found that the cancer was contained in one area.”
