Bulldogs hope to carry momentum into showdown with Monahans

September 29, 2011

At this time last week, there were a lot of questions asked about how the Borger Bulldogs were going to respond after their disappointing loss to Dumas.
Fortunately, the answers to those questions were all positive, as the Bulldogs responded with an impressive 30-2 win last Friday against the Graham Steers.
The performance was a complete turnaround from the prior week, as the defense pitched a shutout and limited the Steer offense to 63 yards. The Bulldog offense also did a solid job mixing in the passing game with the ground game to control the clock and wear out the Steer defense.

Last Friday evening, the Sanford-Fritch Eagles were able to put their non-district woes behind them by opening District 1-2A Division II play with a 33-19 win over the Tulia Hornets.
Through the first half of the game, the Hornets managed to play tough before the Eagles were able to pull away for the two touchdown win.
The game proved that the road to another district title is going to be tough for the Eagles this season, as the district as a whole has improved on the football field compared to 2010.
