Over the weekend, the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen volleyball team traveled to Hutchinson, Kan. to take part in tournament play.
The Lady Plainsmen made a strong showing going 3-1 in the tournament to improve their overall season record to 14-7.
In the tournament, the Lady Plainsmen defeated Pratt CC 25-22, 25-18, 25-23; Cloud County CC 25-22, 25-16, 25-11; and Hutchinson JC 25-12, 25-22, 23-25, 25-18. The Lady Plainsmen’s lone loss came against Seminole JC 25-20, 17-25, 24-26, 17-25.
A Borger resident was killed and another critically injured in an accident occurring late Saturday evening.
On September 24, 2011, an eastbound Ford Mustang traveling on Highway 152 slid into a ravine, causing the vehicle to overturn.
According to Department of Public Safety reports, the driver, identified as Jimmy Dale Ream, 35, was ejected from the vehicle. He was not wearing a seat belt and suffered severe head injures.
The passenger, Kimberly Ann Warren, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene around 10:25 p.m. by a Justice of the Peace, who ordered an autopsy be performed.
