The Borger Police Department made an arrest during a routine traffic stop on Tuesday afternoon.
On Tuesday, June 12, 2011, at approximately 11:30 a.m. officers from the department conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of Monroe Street. After conducting the stop, officers identified the driver of the vehicle as Randi Lee Smith, 54, of Borger.

The Hutchinson County United Way has a full slate of projects for its upcoming Day of Caring. Now all it needs is volunteers to make those projects happen.
This year’s event is set for Sept. 17, 2011. Teri Hogue of the HCUW said the organization has had a great response and is now looking for volunteers to work these requests.
“Volunteers are needed and will be put into teams to work together for this one day,” she said.
FRITCH-W. C. “Claude” Jenkins, 89, of Fritch passed away Saturday July 23 at his home. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday July 26th at Fritch Church of Christ with Mr. Richard Kasko, Minister officiating. Interment will be at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch.
Richard Coleman Ayers, 87, died July 23, 2011.
Graveside services will be in Fairview Cemetery, Memphis, TX at 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 27, 2011 with C.W. Parker officiating.
Borger Bulldogs fans can fondly look back on the 2010 football season, with the team finishing strong in winning the District 1-3A title outright and two playoff games.
As good as that season was for the Bulldogs, now is the time for the players and fans to put last year’s memories behind them and start getting ready for the 2011 season.
Two-A-Days for the state of Texas can officially begin on Monday, Aug. 1, and for the second year in a row, the Bulldogs will kickoff their two-a-day schedule with “Midnight Madness” starting at 12:01 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 1, at Bulldog Stadium.
Work on the new Golden Plains Community Hospital is continuing to progress in a positive direction.
The Treasure Hunters will yet again make an appearance in Borger.
The Treasure Hunters Road show is based in Springfield, Illinois, and will be bringing its five-day road show to Borger, starting Tuesday July 26, 2011 at the AmericInn Lodge and Suites of Borger located on 900 E. 3rd St.
They will be there from 9am to 6pm Tuesday through Friday, and 9am to 4pm on Saturday.
During this free event, the Treasure Hunters are expecting to see over 1,200 residents bringing in their rare and unusual collectibles.
