Frances Allen, 93, of Borger, passed away Monday, June 13, 2011.
Juanita Frances (Burr) Allen was born Saturday, December 1, 1917 in Bronson, TX to Timothy and Mary Frances (Freeland) Burr. She married Jack Harris Allen on May 19, 1941 in Austin, TX. She was a homemaker and a resident of Borger since 1950.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Allen on June 9, 2002; a daughter, Sharon Allen; a great grandson, Tristan King; and two brothers, Theodore Burr and Phillip Burr.

Youth Bowlers competing in state tourneys this weekend

Over 30 Borger Junior League Bowlers are making the trip down to the metroplex this weekend to compete in state bowling competitions.
The tournaments will be held in Plano and Richardson with the divisions consisting of team competition, singles and doubles.

GPCH CEO: Hospital construction progressing well

According to the CEO of Golden Plains Community Hospital, construction on its new facility is coming along well.
During the regular meeting of the Hutchinson County Hospital District Board of Directors Monday evening, GPCH CEO Dennis Jack said everything is continuing to go well with the construction process.

PSPCISD board discusses elementary school projects

The PSPCISD board of trustees held discussion about projects taking place at West Texas Elementary School in Stinnett during its regular meeting Tuesday.
The trustees discussed the summer projects that will be happening at West Texas Elementary School.
These include a new parking lot, hot rubberized sealer for the play area, drive ways that separate the two play areas, seal coating on the elementary teacher parking lot, and seal coating in the high school student parking lot.
Also approved was the policy statement for free and reduced price meals.
