On Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m., the West Texas High Comanches will try to end the first half of District 6-1A play on a high note by trying to get a win over the Claude Mustangs. The game will be a match up of two teams with identical 3-1 district marks.
With the Mustangs and Comanches both one game behind Follett in the standings, Comanches Head Coach Steven Coursey understands how big a win tomorrow will be for his team, saying, “I really hope to get a big win and put ourselves in position that when we play Follett again, it will be a game with the district title on the line.”
On Thursday the Borger High School Tennis team took advantage of playing on their home courts to win the 1-3A district championship by defeating Pampa, Perryton, and Dalhart. Winning, and finishing the spring season undefeated, was the mixed doubles team of Josh Madden and Abbie Madden.
After receiving a bye and cruising in their second round match 6-0, 6-0, the match between Madden and Madden vs Silva and Gage of Pampa was touted to be a very tough match up, but in the end the strength of the brother-sister duo was too much, with the Maddens winning 6-2,6-4.
