Mildred Louise Duckworth, 85, died Wednesday, March 23, 2011, in Amarillo.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Church of Christ at Borger with Mr. Richard Kasko, Minister of the Fritch Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will be in Memory Gardens in Pampa under the direction of Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
An agreement between the City of Borger and Carson County for fire protection has received official approval.
During a special session held Wednesday afternoon, action on the agreement was approved by the Borger City Council.
Eddie Edwards, Borger City Manager, said the agreement has been in the works for some time. He said the Borger Fire Department has been responding to fires in the northern part of Carson County as long as he can remember.
Veterinarian Dr. Jock Lee has been in his line of work for 35 years and will celebrate 30 years of owning his own business, located on 600 East Broadway Street in Fritch.
He graduated from veterinary school in August of 1975 from Texas A&M. He is originally from Spearman and moved to Fritch because he was offered the chance to come to FPC to teach veterinarian medicine
However, he said he also came here for the small town atmosphere.
âI like small town areas because I grew up in one,â Dr. Lee said.
He finally settled in Fritch in 1976 and has been there ever since.
The West Texas High School Sports Department recently received notice that it will be receiving a special award.
The department was notified that it won $10,000 From Frito-Lay. It will receive the award as part of the âScore for Your Schoolâ promotion and will accept the check from Frito-Lay North America during a special assembly this Friday, March 25 at 9am at the West Texas High School on 600 Stewart Ave., Stinnett.
The department won Frito-Layâs âScore for Your Schoolâ promotion this fall by having the most votes for a Division 1A school in the state of Texas.
Friday evening the Borger 2011 Flag Football League will kcik-off the season at the TCY Football FIeld with a matchup between X-Rated vs Victory at 7:00 p.m.
The opening weekend will continue on Saturday with four games scheduled.
Those games are: Storm vs Outlaws 1:00 p.m., ABN vs Borger Brawlers 3:00 p.m., Punishers vs Colts 5:00 p.m. and Hangovers vs Roughnecks 7:00 p.m.
The Hutchinson County Soccer Association has teamed up to host the week long âBritish Soccer Campâ during the week of 7/18/11 â 7/22/11 at The Soccer Fields, Veta Street, Borger, TX, 79007.
The camp will run Monday through Friday and each child will be coached by a member of Challengerâs team of 1,000 British soccer coaches flown to the USA exclusively to work on these programs. Challenger Sports will hold over 3,000 British Soccer camps this summer and will coach over 120,000 players between the ages of 3 and 19.
