The Rotary Club held a bicycle giveaway for Gateway and Crockett Elementaries Tuesday morning for students who have had perfect attendance over the past six weeks. Winners were (front): Kaitlyn Swender, first grade; Wesley Carlock, second grade; Sherie Fitzgerald, third grade; and Brandon Saucedo-Longoria, fourth grade.
PERRYTON - Betty Lou Sanders, 75, died Monday, Nov. 21, 2011.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, 2011, at First Baptist Church – Holly Chapel with Rev. Richard Laverty officiating.
Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton.
Mrs. Sanders was born Jan. 20, 1936, in Longview, and has lived in the area since 1956, moving from Jacksboro. She married Bill Sanders in October of 1982 in Perryton.
She was a member of First Baptist Church and worked for Roberson Wifeline.
PAMPA - Bobby Gene Blakeney, 80, died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, in Amarillo.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Mr. Zeb Sailors, Church of Christ Minister, officiating.
Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery with military honors courtesy of the U.S. Navy. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Mr. Blakeney was born August 27, 1931 in Wichita Falls. He was raised in Spring Creek. He graduated from Borger High School.
Funeral services for Alan Eric Catron, 46, will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 23 at Minton Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bill Sizemore, Pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church officiating.
Interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Alan was born in Borger to Marvin and Greta Catron and he was a lifetime resident of Borger. He was a Maintenance Technician with R and M Energy and was a member of the NRA. He loved hunting, golfing and especially his dogs.
James Earl Jones, 66, of Borger, died Saturday Nov. 19, 2011, in Borger.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, at United Methodist Church in Paducah, Texas with Bobby Evans, pastor of Antioch Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors and McBee Family Funeral Home.
James was born May 17, 1945 at Paris, Texas, to James and Lenora Ainsworth Jones. He worked as a Janitor for ABC Studio in California. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother J. C. Jones.
Lula Mae Rothmeyer, 99, of Borger, went home to her heavenly father, Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, at Riverview Baptist Church, Borger, TX, with Pastor Jimmy Gillmore officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa, Texas. Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Directors of Borger, TX.
On Tuesday evening, the Sanford-Fritch Lady Eagles made the short trip to Borger to take on the Borger Lady Bulldogs in a Hutchinson County Showdown at Tex Hanna Gym.
Through the end of the first three periods, the Lady Bulldogs maintained the lead. But the Lady Eagles took advantage of Lady Bulldog turnovers and foul trouble to go on a 14-2 run in the fourth period to rally back and get the 45-40 win.
Lady Eagle sophomore Mikala Setliff led the charge in the fourth period, scoring 13 of her 15 points in the final period that included going 6/6 from the free throw line.
On Tuesday evening, the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen and Lady Plainsmen, along with the West Texas High Comanches, went into the Thanksgiving holiday with wins.

At the BCAC, the Lady Plainsmen opened the game on a 16-5 run on their way to defeating LCU JV 75-41 to improve to 5-4 for the season.
The Lady Plainsmen had five players reach double figures led by Kinjita Kelley with 14, followed by Laura Martinez with 12 and Shardena Hudson, La’Christa Nash, and Destiny Phillips each scoring 10.
It is official. A Wal-Mart Supercenter is coming to the Borger area!
As of last Tuesday, Wal-Mart manager Gary Fletcher said he has received official word that Wal-Mart has purchased land west of the hospital for the construction of the Supercenter.
He said the new facility will be approximately 160,000 square feet. Fletcher said he cannot give any specific dates as to when it will be open.
The planning process will take some time, and he said he will most likely be going through blueprints several times during the process.
November 22nd
On Monday evening, the Borger Bulldogs traveled to Canyon to take on the Dimmitt Bobcats at the West Texas A&M Event Center.
The Bulldogs trailed by one point after the first period, but were able to finish strong and hung on for the 55-51 win.
After dealing with an eye injury last week, Borger junior Jamon Hearon had a big game scoring 21 points that included nailing four three pointers.
Senior Grant Boren also was hot behind the three point line where he hit three and had 11 points for the game.
