Bond set in Fernandez case

November 2, 2011

Wednesday afternoon, bond was set for Francisco "Frank" Fernandez, and Jose Fernandez, Jr., at $50,000 each during arraignment hearing in Amarillo.
Aaron Fernandez had his bond set at $25,000.
All three have been indicted on drug trafficking charges and must take part in the home confinement program and wear an electronic ankle monitoring device.
In addition, travel for the men is restricted, they cannot be around firearms, alcohol or narcotics and they are subject to medical testing.

Meet the Lady Bulldogs Basketball team scheduled for Saturday

November 2, 2011

On Saturday, November 5th, Meet the Bulldogs will be held for the Borger Lady Bulldog Basketball team starting at noon in Tex Hanna Gym.
The team will also take part in a scrimmage beginning at around 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.
Free hot dogs will be served to fans, so come out and show your support for the Lady Bulldogs.

Pilot walks away from Tuesday evening crash

On Tuesday evening, a Bellanca aircraft made a crash landing in an open field in the Borger area, one mile south of Highway 136.
According to DPS reports on Tuesday at 5:15 p.m., a Bellanca aircraft, piloted by James Randall Dyson, 62, of Borger, was flying on a low gas tank for maintenance reasons and was heading back to the Hutchinson County Airport in Borger.
While in flight, Dyson tried to switch gas tanks but due to equipment failure was unable to do so causing Dyson to bring the aircraft down.

Borger man killed in Wednesday morning wreck

November 2, 2011

Early Wednesday morning a Borger man was killed in a wreck one mile south of Stinnett on Highway 136.
According to the DPS report, Gentry Kent Trahern, 53, was traveling northbound on Highway 136 when at approximately 6:05 a.m. his Honda Accord struck a horse that had entered the road from the east.
After the Accord hit the horse, the vehicle slide into the southbound lane where a Toyota Tundra struck the Accord on the passenger side.
The Tundra was driven by Emit Lee Schmidt, 52, of Morse.
The Justice of the Peace pronounced Trahern dead at the scene and ordered an autopsy on the body.
