HAPPY – Caroline Dietz, 79, died Nov. 13, 2011, in Canyon.
Services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Happy. Rosary will be held at 6:30 P.M. on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Happy’s Memorial Chapel. Viewing will be at Brooks Chapel in Canyon on Monday and Happy’s Memorial Chapel on Tuesday. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors.
Caroline Dietz was born on June 3, 1932 to Adolph and Rose Schulte. She married James Dietz on August 28, 1951 and they just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Frankie Nell Potter

Frankie Nell Potter, 86, of Amarillo, passed away, Sunday, November 13, 2011.
Frankie Nell (Snyder) Potter was born Tuesday, November 25, 1924 in Panhandle, TX to Frank and Nellie Ann (Perdue) Snyder. She married P.B.Potter on July 31, 1948 in Borger, TX. She was bookkeeper for Hutchinson Aircraft Service until her retirement.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, P.B. Potter.

JPYC hosts second disc golf tourney, sees great response

On Saturday, the Johnson Park Youth Center hosted their second official disc golf tournament that drew in 27 entries from around the area.
Johnson Park Youth Center Supervisor Annadon Keys was pleased with the turnout and tournament saying, “We all had a great time, I think everyone enjoyed being involved with the Disc Golf Tournament today. They had nothing but compliments for the Johnson Park Disc Golf course from its design, up keep of course and our facility. Weather permitting we will be planning more disc golf
tournaments in the future.”

James “Jim” Dennis

SKELLYTOWN - James “Jim” Dennis, 80, died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, in Pampa.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, at Mobeetie Cemetery with Ammon Weber, bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Borger, officiating.
Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.
Mr. Dennis was born Sept. 24, 1931 in Borger to John and Verna Dennis. He graduated from Compton High School in Compton, California and served in the U. S. Air Force.
He married Margie Sangster on Sept. 2, 1981 in Lovington, New Mexico.

FPC Plainsmen drop two on Colorado trip

Late last week, the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen basketball team took a road trip into Colorado which proved not to be too enjoyable.
On Thursday, November 10th, the Plainsmen came up short 74-69 at Trinidad State.
The Plainsmen had several players get in double figures in scoring led by Taquan McDew 17, Akeem Johnson 13 , Ronald Scott 11, and James Boonstoppel 11.
On Friday, the Plainsmen traveled to La Juanta where they came up short against Otero Junior College 81-68.
Leading scorers were McDew 15, Johnson 13, Scott 11 and Alex Zivkovic who had nine points and eight rebounds.

Bulldogs finish in 12th place at 3A State Cross Country meet

On Saturday, the Borger Bulldogs Cross County team finished the 2011 season coming in 12th place in the 3A State Cross Country meet in Round Rock.
Kaufman took first place in the 3A boys team standings with 61 points followed by Sanger in second place with 80 points and Liberty Hill in third place with 97 points. Borger finished with 260 points.

Sanford-Fritch runs through Forsan 33-26

PLAINVIEW-On Saturday evening, the Sanford Fritch Eagles fought hard to beat the Forsan Buffs 33-26 for the 2A District II Bi-District title.
The Eagles racked up 560 yards offensively, with junior running back Colton Valle having 381 yd. alone.
It was truly Valle’s best game all season.
The Eagles won the toss but opted to use it second half.
A couple good runs by Forsans quarterback Foster Burchett and running back Trevor Burchett moved the chains.
But a costly fumble recovered by Sanford-Fritch’s Tyler Blankinship set up the Eagles first score.

Comanches lose Bi-District thriller to Quanah

The West Texas Comanches played true to fashion against the Quanah Indians in Pampa Friday night. They kept their fans on the edge of their seats in several games this year, and Friday night was no exception. WT never led, but kept the score tied or within a touchdown the entire game. However, penalties and a costly fumble on a pitchout in the fourth quarter, ended up costing them the ball game. After a 61 yard punt put the Comanches at their own 12 yard line, the pitchout ended up on the ground and was recovered in the end zone by the Indians to put them up 32-26 with 6:25 left.

The West Texas Comanches travel to Panhandle Friday night to take on the Panthers. Game starts at 7...
The Sanford-Fritch Eagles will travel to Tulia Friday night to face the Hornets.
