Lady Bulldogs begin playoffs against Lamesa

Tomorrow night, the Borger Lady Bulldogs will take on the Lamesa Golden Tornadoes in the 3A Bi-District playoffs at Amarillo High starting at 7:00 p.m.
The Lady Bulldogs find themselves in a similar situation as last year, by entering the playoffs as the district’s third seed, yet able to make a nice run that ended in the Regional Semi-Finals.

Shot fired in the midst of police car chase

A shot was fired in the midst of a police car chase early Saturday morning in Stinnett just after midnight.
The suspect rammed one of the police patrol units heading north. A chase continued on foot in the same direction, when a fired was shot by an officer.
There were no injuries, but one officer went to the hospital on his own for safety precautions.

Borger High band preparing for brisket dinner

Payden Dompe, Kinsey Grieb, Vanessa Smith, and Kayla Castleberry are among the Borger High band students helping prepare for the Borger Band Boosters Annual Brisket Dinner, scheduled from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at the American Legion Hall, 1000 Bulldog Lane. Tickets can be purchased from BHS Band Students or at the door for $5 each. To go orders are available.

Lady Plainsmen top Clarendon College in four games

After being picked to finish last in the WJCAC at the start of the season, the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen proved the experts on wrong by qualifying for the West Region V Tournament without the use of any tiebreaker with a four game win over Clarendon College on Saturday afternoon 22-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-14.
The West Region V Tournament will take place on Saturday, featuring the Lady Plainsmen opening against Midland College, while NMMI will take on Western Texas College in the other semi-final.

Borger Boys claim third straight district title

The past two years, the Borger Boys Cross Country team seem to fall just short of beating Perryton in various meets in the season but came up with the win when it counted the most.
That was the case again on Friday, as the Borger Bulldog Varisty Boys Cross Country team won it’s third consecutive District 1-3A title edging out the Perryton Rangers by one point. It was Borger’s first victory over Perryton this season. Borger placed it’s top five runners in the top ten in order to win the title.

Comeback Kings, Borger tops Dalhart 20-19

DALHART-On Friday night, the Borger Bulldogs overcame two early turnovers and 120 yards in penalties and scored 13 unanswered fourth quarter points to get the 20-19 win over the Dalhart Golden Wolves in District 1-3A action.
The Bulldogs’ defense shut down the Wolves in the fourth quarter, limiting them to just two yards of total offense. The Bulldogs’ offense responded with senior running back Ty Brown scoring two touchdowns in the final six minutes to get the win and keep the team undefeated in district play.

Eagles top Spearman 42-14

On Friday evening, the Sanford-Fritch Eagles secured second place in District 1-2A Division II by defeating Spearman 42-14 in Fritch.

Four arrested on narcotics charges

Jose “Junior” Fernandez, Francisco “Frank” Fernandez, Aaron Fernandez and Thomas Joseph Salazar, all of Borger, were arrested on Thursday, October 27, 2011 following investigations by Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) personnel. Arrest warrants were issued under the authority of the United States based on Special Agent Daryl Walker’s personal knowledge, experience and investigations of the four men who allegedly conspired to have with intent to distribute narcotics (including cocaine and methamphetamine.
