State Senator Kel Seliger spoke to Borger citizens on many questioned topics Tuesday morning.
At Borger City Hall, Seliger focused on some hot topics related to the 82nd legislative session and some topics citizens were concerned and curious about.
Seliger started his discussion by saying, â€śI always enjoy being here and having a town hall meeting.â€ť When the discussion over the 82nd legislative session started about a year ago the state was looking at a structural deficit of 27 billion dollars.
On November 4th and 5th the NJCAA Region V West Volleyball Tournament will take place in Clarendon and three of the four tournament spots are already claimed by Midland College, Western Texas College and NMMI.
Tonight at the BCAC, the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen can take a big step in securing that fourth tournament spot if they can get the win over the Odessa College Lady Wranglers.
Borger tops Perryton to clinch the final District 1-3A playoff spot
On Tuesday evening, the Perryton Rangerettes and the Borger Lady Bulldogs entered Tex Hanna Gym ready to give it all they had in order to clinch the final District 1-3A playoff spot.
The teams entered with identical 1-7 district marks and knew the scenario was simple. Win and you clinch a playoff berth or lose and start thinking about basketball.
Borger â€“ Celebration of Life services for Billie Jean Aylor, 80, will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the Borger Church of God on Franklin St. with Pastor Bill Ratchford officiating. Interment will be in the Stinnett Cemetery under the direction of Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mrs. Aylor passed away Sunday, October 23 in Pampa.
Longtime Borger resident Vance Brown has used some of his time over the past ten years to tear down pallets to make wonderful creations.
Within the past two months, one of his newest hobbies he has just picked up involves making wishing wells from pallets.
â€śIt all started with my wife wanting a wishing well. So, I torn down a pallet and made her one and have made them since.â€ť he states.
Brown sells his creations at the customerâ€™s price.
â€śIf people want to buy them I let them make the offer.â€ť he said.
A local citizen and his wife recently got to take part in the Honor Flight earlier this month in Washington, D.C.
Jimmie L. (Shorty), a World War II veteran and wife Leola flew north for the Honor Flight, which toko place on Oct. 5, 2011.
At approximately 7:30 a.m., they took off from Amarilloâ€™s Rick Husband airport for their first step on the way to Washington, D.C.
On Saturday afternoon, the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen took a step towards clinching a spot in the Region V Volleyball Tournament by defeating Western Texas College in five games 25-22, 22-25, 25-20, 23-25, 16-14.
The match proved to be a dogfight throughout the afternoon with neither team able to accumulate any real separation, causing each point to be vital for both teams.
In game one, Western Texas took a four point, 15-19, lead on an ace. However, the Lady Plainsmen battled back with great defensive play to battle back to a 22-22 tie.
The West Texas Lady Comanches hosted the Lady Cyclones of Memphis Saturday afternoon in their last home appearance. It took four, but WT High kept their District recorded unblemished 25-19, 24-26, 25-17, and 25-18. The Lady Tribe has already clinched the District Crown for the second year in a row. The team is talented at every position and are gearing up for a run in the post season.
On Saturday afternoon, the Borger Lady Bulldogs fell to the Dalhart Lady Golden Wolves in four games 25-12, 23-25, 25-15, 25-21.
The loss drops the Lady Bulldogs to 1-7 in District 1-3A play where they sit tied with Perryton for the third playoff spot.
Perryton travels to Borger tomorrow night in a big regular season finale where the winner advances to the playoffs.
The junior varsity teams will play at 5:00 p.m. followed by the varsity match getting underway at approximately 6:00 p.m. at Tex Hanna Gym.
